15 siMetrix products to use in your next modular support project

siMetrix is the new modular steel assembly system by Sikla that will save you even more time and money on your next project! But how?

Originally posting the videos to LinkedIn, in this blog Sikla introduces the 15 key components within the siMetrix range. Through 15 informative How-to videos, you will learn how to safely install each product, which can be integrated into a Sikla modular support frame.

All siMetrix components are now available in Sikla plugin software's, to streamline the design process by providing straightforward connections and a more compact product selection.

End Cap ADK

The yellow siMetrix End Cap is most significant and recognisable product within our new range.

Able to be spotted from a distance, siMetrix End Caps are simply installed by pushing it onto the end of the siMetrix profile to neatly and safely cover the cut ends.

Angle connector CN46

The siMetrix Angle Connector CN 46 is a key component required to assemble all siMetrix support systems. To install a connector onto a siMetrix profile, simply:

Hook, pull and press the connector on the profile
Adjust the support to the desired height
Secure and tighten in place with a torque drill set to 30 Nm

Cantilever Bracket AK-CC P

A prefabricated single arm Cantilever Bracket is the solution for modular supports that require a horizontal extension and be unsupported at one end. To connect a Cantilever Bracket to a siMetrix profile, you will need to:

Hook and click onto the profile
Adjust the bracket to your desired location
Secure in place with a torque drill set to 20 Nm on either side
To remove, reverse the steps above

Joining Plate AP

Joining Plates are used to connect a Cantilever Bracket and WBD to the ground or to steel beams. To safely connect a WBD to a Joining Plate you will need to:

Insert the screws into the centre of the plate
Place the WBD on top of the screws and fix into place with a hexagon nut
Secure by torquing the nut to 81 Nm with a wrench and allen key

Slide Set GS H3G-PL

Slide sets are available as single or double guided brackets for installations DN 100 and above depending on your project requirements. To install a siMetrix slide set to a profile, you must:

Hook the Profile Clip onto one side of the siMetrix profile to the other covering the wing of the Slide Set
Tighten and secure the nut to 15 Nm with an Impact Driver, to secure the Slide Set in place

Profile Adapter MPA F

This Profile Adapter allows for the siFramo modular steel support frames to seamlessly transition to siMetrix for a lighter application. To install a Profile Adapter, you need to:

Place the adapter onto the siFramo profile at the desired height
Insert 4 FLS screws and secure in place using an impact driver set to 50 Nm
Push open the clips, insert the profile and then close place the profile
Tighten and secure the siMetrix screws to 20 Nm

Channel Adapter SA Pro

The Channel Adapter allows for a seamless profile transition between siMetrix and the Pressix CC 41 and 27 channel systems. This component should be used for areas within a modular support that have lower load data. To install the Pressix Channel Adapter, you must:

Position the adapter on the siMetrix profile to the desired height
Press down on the clip and tighten the screw to 20 Nm
Place the Pressix profile into the adapter and press down on the top screws of the speed nuts to hold the channel profile in place
Use an impact driver, set to 10 Nm for CC 27 or 40 Nm for CC41, to secure the screws

Profile Holders

Within the siMetrix range there are two types of Profile Holders that allow for siMetrix to be connected to Sikla’s other support systems siFramo and Pressix. This means that all three systems can be easily integrated with one product using either 4 FLS screws for siFramo or speed nuts for Pressix CC 41.

MPH 41 61 | siMetrix to Pressix CC 41 channel system:

Put the siMetrix profile on top of the Pressix profile in the desired location
Place the Profile Holder over the siMetrix profile and press down to lock the speed nuts into place
Secure the component into place by using an impact driver, set to 15 Nm, to tighten the speed nut
To remove the holder, loosen the speed nut screws then slide out the siMetrix profile and Profile Holder

MPH 80 | siMetrix to siFramo 80

Put the siMetrix Profile Holder MPH 80 over the siMetrix profile and adjust to your desired height
Using an impact driver, set to 60 Nm, apply four FLS screws to secure it in place

Profile Clip MPK

The Profile Clip enables threaded rod to be connected to the side of a siMetrix profile for pipe clamps to be integrated into the support. To safely install the Profile Clips, you need to:

Place the clip onto the side of the siMetrix profile and clip into place
Insert the threaded rod inside the clip and secure in place with two hexagon nuts
Tighten the nuts at 15 Nm to secure and add your desired pipe clamp to
To remove from the profile, reverse the above steps

Blockset PBS

A Blockset PBS is the solution for attaching pipe clamps and other siMetrix components to the profile. A benefit to using the Blockset is that it can easily be adjusted to suit your requirements without harming the profile. To install the component, you need to:

Clip the Blockset onto the siMetrix profile and secure the hexagon nut to 15 Nm
Add the Sikla pipe clamp of your choice to the top of the threaded rod

Profile Coupling PK

A Profile Coupling is an internal element that allows you to join two siMetrix profiles together. The purpose of using this product is to extend supports that exceed 6 metres, the longest profile length siMetrix is manufactured and supplied in. To install:

Place half of the coupling inside the siMetrix profile.
Use two hexagon screws, on each non perforated side of the profile, to secure the coupling
On the exposed part of the coupling, place another siMetrix profile on top and insert two hexagon screw to the non-perforated side

U Bolt RUB

The U Bolt RUB is delivered preassembled, with Profile Clips, is often used as a utility pipe support. This can be either as a fixed-point guide or a normal guide for horizontal and vertical pipes. To install the U Bolt, you must:

Clip the U Bolt into place on the side of the siMetrix profile
Secure the hexagon nuts to 15 Nm
Reverse the steps to remove the U Bolt from the profile

U-Holder SB

The U-Holder is a solution to connecting a siMetrix profile to traditional steel beams. To be used as pairs, the U-Holders are installed as follows:

Slide the U-Holders onto the siMetrix profile
Position and loosely clip the component onto the steel beam
Once in place, tighten the screws to secure before tightening them to 20 Nm to fix
Should you need to move the siMetrix profile, simply unscrew the bolts

End Support WBD

Sikla End Support WBD’s are suitable for either freestanding modular supports or to mount brackets to walls, floors or ceilings. The product is able to support structures on their own but should you want a re-enforced solution then you can use either anchors or a joining plate. To install, you need to:
