How Sikla can support large-scale projects with prefabrication

Delivering industrial large-scale projects successfully requires efficiency, precision and sustainability at every stage. Off-site prefabrication has become a proven solution for contractors seeking to reduce on-site labour, minimise waste and accelerate project timelines.

Successful prefabrication requires more than assembling supports off-site, it requires a smart process for ensuring projects are delivered on time for commission and budgets aren’t exceeded.

At Sikla, we specialise in modular steel solutions that make prefabrication simpler, faster and more cost-efficient. Beyond supplying components, we offer an in-house service to design, assemble and deliver prefabricated modular supports to provide a streamlined and stress-free project for our customer.

Why off-site prefabrication can benefit you

In an industry where deadlines are often tight, off-site prefabrication is transforming how projects are delivered and help ensure they are delivered on-time and within budget. By shifting complex assembly off-site into a controlled environment, you can gain significant advantages in:

Time savings

Prefabricated supports are built in parallel with on-site activities, reducing overall project timelines. Once supports are delivered, they can be installed immediately without disrupting progress.

Cost efficiency

Off-site prefabrication eliminates the need for sourcing on-site labour mitigating delays caused by adverse weather conditions, site constraints and material delivery issues.

Quality control

Prefabrication within a controlled environment ensures precision, consistency and full compliance with project requirements.

Safety

Minimising on-site assembly creates cleaner work areas and significantly improves overall site safety.

Sustainability

Optimised the material usage to reduce waste, with fewer deliveries to lower carbon emissions and environmental impact.

Sikla Prefabrication Service

For years, Sikla has provided customers with the option to have supports prefabricated by our in-house Sikla experts. While our support systems are designed for easy assembly and installation, engaging with our services reduces the number of parties within your supply chain. Instead of coordinating multiple contractors, fabricators and suppliers, Sikla becomes your single point of contact. This approach saves time and effort to minimise the risk of miscommunication thus allowing a smoother project and predictable workflow.

Complete solutions

With our in-house engineering team, Sikla can manage the entire process from design through to supply, ensuring your supports meet both your project requirements and comply with our standards. Our Engineers develop 3D models to identify potential clashes and then generate detailed 2D drawings, complete with dimensions and component.

For customers who prefer to design in-house, we can offer drawing verification to guarantee for accuracy and compliance to our standards.

Once designs are checked and approved, a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) is produced and prefabrication begins by selecting and cutting the required components, such as channel systems, beam sections and threaded rod, for efficient assembly.

Each bespoke support is assembled by our prefabrication teams, who are rigorously trained and experienced in building our modular support frames, to the specifications outlined on the 2D construction drawings. To support on-site installation teams, additional supports such as fixings or pipe clamps are labelled and packaged according to the agreed sequence. As an additional step, frames are then quality checked to guarantee precision and reliability.

Supports are delivered complete with drawings and all required materials, packaged by scope for quick identification. This approach allows contractors to simply select components from the pallet and install them directly onto the building structure to save time, reduce labour and ensuring a smooth workflow.

Project References

The following case studies illustrate how Sikla’s advanced prefabrication solutions have been used for landmark industrial projects worldwide. These examples demonstrate the scalability, precision and reliability of Sikla’s approach to supporting complex piping and mechanical infrastructures.

Clean Cow

Sikla was contracted to prefabricate over 7 000 secondary modular supports for mechanical services for a new production facility for feed additive designed to reduce methane emissions from cattle. Primary supports including pipe shoes and assembly sets were also supplied. The integration of Sikla’s modular system streamlined installation on-site.

Covalent Lithium

Construction of a new Lithium Refinery producing approximately 45 0000 tonnes of battery quality hydroxide per year. Sikla was engaged early in the project timeline and provided design, supply and project management of secondary steel supports for piping and HV Cable ladder. The total quantity of supports supplied was ≈ 7000 prefabricated units and the total tonnage approximately 300 tonnes. Integration of Sikla supports allowed timely release of primary steelwork packages and integration of normally costly downstream changes.

Dubai Waste-to-Energy

More than 2 000 supports were prefabricated and supplied from Sikla warehouses in England and Western Australia for the largest Waste-to-Energy project to date. Additionally, 60 tons of stock material was supplied and fabricated on-site by contractors. Due to the large scale of the project, the design and delivery stages were split into several scopes, executed in stages to deliver the right material at the right time for efficient on-site material management.
